Windows Live: Getting Started

“Windows Live is either a registered trademark or trademark of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries.”
Windows LiveTM online services is a collection of products owned by Microsoft consisting of applications along with web and mobile services. Many of the applications are web-based, but some are required to be installed on your PC (eg. Messenger, Security and Writer).
Getting started with Windows Live was a little more challenging that I had anticipated. So, I put together some helpful links below.
First, you will need a hotmail account (Sign Up)

Once you have a hotmail account and are logged in, you will see some of the services offered by Windows Live from the hotmail account dashboard. (I will talk more about the differences between the on line version of Windows Live and the download version in later posts). For now, if you are interested in the download version, you may download Windows Live Essentials from the links provided below.
- Windows Live for XP (click here)
- Windows Live for Windows 7 (click here)
If you would like to know the system requirements before you download and install Windows Live follow this link (click here).
If you are interested in using the Windows Live on-line version, click here.
