Windows Live: How to Set an Automated Vacation Reply
Are you seriously considering unplugging for a few days? Then you may want to set your automated Vacation responder in Windows Live.
Step #1 – Go to your Hotmail Inbox
“Windows Live is either a registered trademark or trademark of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries.”
Step #2 – In the upper right-hand corner click on “Options” and then “More Options”…
Step #3 – Under the heading “Managing Your Account” click on “Sending Automated Vacation Replies”
Note – Microsoft requires that your hotmail account be seasoned before this feature is allowed.
Vacation replies let you tell people that you’re away from your email. This seemed like something very helpful, so we were frustrated to discover that spammers had figured out a way to abuse it. To curb the spammers, we disabled vacation replies in April 2010.
We have now fixed the problem and turned vacation replies back on. As part of the solution, though, we’re limiting it to customers who have been using Hotmail for some time and established credibility in the system. If the vacation reply feature is disabled for you, just continue using Hotmail regularly for a few days. If vacation reply is still disabled even after a few days, contact Customer Support by posting here.
Step #4 – Click Send vacation replies to people who e-mail me.
Step #5 – Type your vacation reply in the text box, and make sure to check the “Only reply to your Contacts” box. Then click Save.
Done.

Nice, very clear step by step guide
